Biometric Data Policy

This policy describes how Rendevuu handles facial biometric data when you choose to verify your identity. It is our publicly available written retention schedule and destruction guidelines for biometric identifiers and biometric information, including for purposes of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) and similar laws.

With your consent, and only during verification, we capture a short live facial scan. This scan is a biometric identifier. We use it for one purpose only: to confirm that you are a real, live person and that your face matches the photos on your profile. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, tracking, or any other purpose.

The scan is processed by Amazon Web Services (Amazon Rekognition Face Liveness and face comparison). The live image is compared, in transient memory, against your existing profile photos to produce a simple match / no-match result. We do not create or store a faceprint, face template, or facial-geometry vector, and we do not enroll your face in any searchable database.

We do not retain your biometric data. The facial scan exists only for the few seconds the verification check is running and is permanently destroyed immediately upon completion of that check — and in no event later than the verification request itself. No facial geometry, template, or image from the scan is written to disk or stored in our database. Amazon's Face Liveness session data is short-lived and is deleted by AWS automatically; we do not retain it.

After verification, the only things we keep are: (1) a flag that your identity was verified, (2) the date of verification, and (3) a record that you provided consent and when. None of these are biometric data.

We collect your informed, written consent before any scan. You may decline; verification is optional, and declining simply means you will not receive the verified badge or appear in discovery. We do not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from your biometric data.

Because we never store your biometric data, there is nothing to delete after a verification completes. To ask questions about this policy, contact us at info@rendevuu.com.
