Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
Rendevuu (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and safeguard your personal information when you use the Rendevuu application and related services (the “Service”).
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, date of birth, phone number, and authentication credentials. If you sign up through a third-party provider (such as Apple or Google), we receive basic profile information from that provider.
Profile Data
You may provide additional information to build your profile, including photos, a bio, your gender, interests, preferences, and other details you choose to share. Profile information is visible to other Rendevuu users in accordance with your settings.
Usage Data
We automatically collect information about how you interact with the Service, including features used, profiles viewed, matches made, messages sent, check-in/check-out times, session duration, and in-app actions.
Location Data
Rendevuu is a hotel-based service. When you check in to a hotel, we collect the hotel name and general location to connect you with other guests. We do not track your precise GPS location continuously. You may grant optional location permissions to simplify the check-in process, which you can revoke at any time in your device settings.
Device Information
We collect device identifiers, operating system, browser type, app version, IP address, and general diagnostic data to maintain and improve the Service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account
- Display your profile to other users at the same or nearby hotels
- Facilitate matching, messaging, and connections between users
- Verify hotel check-in status and prevent abuse
- Send you notifications about matches, messages, and account activity
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and safety issues
- Analyze usage trends to improve the Service
- Comply with legal obligations
- Enforce our Terms of Service
3. Photo Data & EXIF Stripping
Your safety is a priority. When you upload photos to Rendevuu, we automatically strip all EXIF metadata from image files, including GPS coordinates, camera information, timestamps, and other embedded data. This means that no location metadata from your photos is stored on our servers or visible to other users. The processed images retain visual quality but contain no hidden metadata that could reveal where or when a photo was taken. Original unprocessed files are never stored.
4. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:
- With other users: Your profile information, photos, and hotel check-in status are visible to other Rendevuu users based on your privacy settings.
- Service providers: We work with trusted third-party vendors for hosting, analytics, payment processing, and customer support. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data.
- Legal requests: We may disclose information when required by law, subpoena, court order, or government request, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
- Safety & enforcement: We may share information to investigate violations of our Terms, prevent fraud, or address security threats.
- Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal compliance, fraud prevention, or safety purposes. Aggregated, anonymized data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytics and product improvement. Message history between matched users is deleted when either user deletes their account.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data, subject to certain legal exceptions.
- Opt-out: Opt out of marketing communications at any time via your account settings or by following the unsubscribe link in our emails.
- Data portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
California residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request its deletion, and opt out of any sale of personal information (we do not sell your data). We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. To submit a request, contact us at the address below.
7. Security Measures
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, secure server infrastructure, regular security audits, and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and encourage you to use strong, unique passwords and enable two-factor authentication where available.
8. Children's Privacy
Rendevuu is strictly for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will immediately terminate their account and delete their data. In compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we do not direct our Service to children under 13. If you believe a minor is using Rendevuu, please report it to us immediately.
9. Third-Party Services
Rendevuu may contain links to or integrations with third-party services, including payment processors, analytics providers, and social media platforms. These third parties have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. We encourage you to review their policies before providing any personal information. Our use of third-party services is limited to what is necessary to operate and improve Rendevuu.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or via email. The “Last updated” date at the top indicates when the most recent revision took effect. Your continued use of Rendevuu after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
