Trust & Safety

Real people. Real places. Real consequences.

Meeting people while you travel only works if you can trust who's on the other side of the screen. Below is exactly what Rendevuu does to protect you — described as it actually works in the product, not as a wish list.

No tool catches everything. These measures raise the bar and give you control; they don't replace your own judgment when you meet someone in person.

Verifying real people

  • Phone verification on every account. Accounts are created with a one-time code sent to your phone (Twilio Verify). There's one account per verified number — no throwaway-email signups.
  • A hard 18+ age gate. A date of birth is required at signup and checked server-side. If it doesn't clear 18, the account is never created. Reports that someone appears underage are escalated the moment they're filed.
  • Automated photo screening. Every photo you upload has its location and camera metadata (EXIF) stripped, then runs through Google's SafeSearch classifier. Images flagged as explicit nudity or graphic violence are rejected before they're ever saved. Anything that slips past automation can still be reported by other users and removed.

Verifying real places

  • You only see people once you've checked in. Rendevuu shows you guests whose hotel stay overlaps yours — nothing more. No active or upcoming stay means there's nothing to browse.
  • On-property location verification. To see and match with guests who are physically at the hotel, you verify your location on-site: the app takes a fresh, precise GPS fix and confirms you're within about 250 metres of the property. Until you do, you only see fellow planners (people who've booked overlapping dates) — never confirmed on-property guests. You can't fake being at the Bellagio from a couch in Ohio.
  • Stay-bounded visibility. You appear in a property's feed only during the dates you're actually there. Once your stay ends, you're automatically removed.
  • No precise location is ever shared. Other users see that you're at the hotel — never your coordinates, never your room. Your raw GPS location is stripped before any other person's device receives your profile.

Real consequences for bad actors

  • Report any profile in one tap. Every profile has a report option with clear reasons — fake profile, inappropriate content, harassment, spam, appears underage, threatening behavior, or something else — plus room for details.
  • Child-safety reports are escalated immediately. An "appears underage" report fires a safety alert the instant it's submitted and is prepared for referral to the appropriate authorities.
  • Block instantly. Blocking someone severs any active match between you and hides you from each other going forward.
  • Bans actually stick. A banned account is signed out everywhere immediately. Because every account is tied to one verified phone number, a banned user can't simply make a new email and walk back in. Bans can be appealed.
  • Every moderation action is logged. Who acted, what they did, and when — recorded in an audit trail, so "what happened to my report?" has a real answer.
  • Reviewed by a person. Reports are reviewed by a human, not only by a classifier. Serious and child-safety reports are prioritized.

Your data, your control

  • Delete your account anytime. Deleting your account erases your data — messages, matches, likes, photos, check-ins, and reports — in one action.
  • Privacy requests. You can request access to, export of, or deletion of your data, or opt out of any sale of personal information, under GDPR and CCPA.

Meeting safely — your part

  • Meet in public, well-lit hotel spaces — the lobby bar, the restaurant, the pool deck.
  • Tell a friend back home where you're going and who you're meeting.
  • Trust your gut. If something feels off, leave — then report it.
  • Never send money, intimate photos, or personal details to someone you just matched with.
